When you think of a hotel, what is the first thing that comes to mind? The Ritz-Carlton, the Hilton or maybe the La Quinta Inn. As we begun our search on unique hotels, we could not even begin to believe what we came across. We found hotels located up trees, high on mountain sides, underground and even under water. Hotels usually try to set themselves apart by good comfort and outstanding customer service. However, we have found a collection of 5 hotels that have decided to think outside the rectangular box. How would you like to sleep: Underwater? | | 1. Jules Undewater Lodge- What started out as an underwater research center has changed into a full service lodge. Fortunately for its guests they have added in air conditioning, hot showers, music, DVD, and unlimited diving. This is perfect for someone look to get credit for a PADI or NAUI certification, or really anyone who wishes that they were a fish! You can actually spend multiple days underwater, as all of your meals are brought to you. |
Inside A Cave? | 2. Gamirasu Cave Hotel - Well if you think living underwater might be too much, why not live in a cave? This hotel is located in Cappadocia, Turkey and it is actually been restored, as it is a one thousand year old Byzantine monastic retreat, into a 18 room luxurious hotel. This Cave Hotel comes with all of the amendities, including wi-fi and luckily temperature control. | |
Inside an Ice Castle?
| | 3. Hotel de Glace -Unlike the Cave, This Ice Castle comes with absolutely no temperature control. The actual room temperatures are between -2C and -4C. Although this ice castle gives off an absolutely magical experience, you may freeze sleeping on a slab of ice. However, they do give you an arctic sleeping bag and a hot beverage in the morning. Located in Quebec, it is quite popular with all the locals and tourists offering amenities such as helicopter tours, ice fishing, and sking. | Inside A Treehouse? | 4. Wild Canopy Reserve - Deep in India southern interior is the treehouse you dreamed of as a kid. However, sleepwalkers BEWARE! There is beautiful view off the 41 foot drop off the side of your room. You can observe the wild jungle animals from the safety (soft of) of your tree house. Amazingly your room comes with running water, both hot and cold. | | 5. Das Park Hotel -I would like to know what pipe the designer of this idea was smoking. This takes the prize for being strange. Located in Austria, this pipe holds one bed and surprisingly it has electricity. The only way that this "pipe" tops jail is that you get a window that opens. However, the payment for a room is basically whatever you feel like, so that is not bad as long as you can beat up a bum to get the room. |
