Mt Rushmore Tours
As you take a Mount Rushmore tour you will see the most spectacular symbol the greatness of the United States, through the splendor of its leaders. This epic sculpture depicts the faces of four exalted American presidents and symbolizes this nations history, rugged determination and lasting achievements. The entire memorial covers 1,278.45 acres with 60-foot sculptures of the heads of four highly ranked former United States presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Mt. Rushmore tours host almost three million visitors a year from across the country and around the world. One thing that you may not not realize as you go on your Mt. Rushmore tours is that the canyon behind the carved faces is a chamber. It is cut only 70 feet into the rock, containing a vault with sixteen porcelain enamel panels. The panels include the text of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, biographies of the four presidents and Borglum, and the history of the United States. The chamber was created as the entranceway to a planned "Hall of Records". Touring Mt Rushmore is a must, however, we also recommend that you check out our Niagara Falls Tours and our Yellowstone Tours.
